Yesterday my aunts Sue and Donna hosted a lovely shower attended by members of my Wittmayer (father's side) and Slayton (mother's side) families. It was really nice to have a time where both sides of my family could gather and all 3 of my great-

aunts were there, Donnella, Char and Olivia. We of course

played everyone's favorite game, pass the baby. Sophia happily slept in everyone's arms as she made her way around the room. Sophia received several lovely presents. My cousin Roya, who is 5, wanted to know why if the presents were for Sophia I was opening them. I told her we would be there a long time waiting for Sophia to open her gifts.
One of the things having Sophia in my life has reminded me is of

the incredible generosity of

people. The gifts yesterday were just overwhelming. People are just amazingly kind and in the face of all this I have to work hard to retain my cynicism about human nature!
