A Roseburg Weekend

We spend the weekend in Roseburg with our friends Derek, Ann Marie, Alex, Gabe and our new friend, Ann Marie's mother Sharon. We had a wonderful time! You may remember Alex as the young man that got to bang the gavel at Sophia's adoption day ceremony. Before we left our cat did her best to prevent our departure by climbing in our suitcase. But she was foiled again and we left as soon as I got off work Friday evening.

Both Gabe and Alex seemed to enjoy being the big kids. Sophia really enjoyed watching them. They moved very quickly and made all sorts of interesting noises. It just doesn't get much more exciting for a Sophia. Alex asked a lot of questions about how much older he was than Sophia and took his responsibilities to entertain her pretty seriously. He even read to her, quite well considering he can't read yet. Alex was very sweet and careful when holding Sophia. Although later he told me that Sophia "smells like cheese."

Saturday morning we went to an air-show where Alex was the most entertained by the planes. He got to sit in a helicopter. In this photo he seems to be plotting how he can make off with it and use it for his own personal transportation. In the afternoon Alex and Gabe played outside in the sprinklers and Gabe got especially soaked.

Sophia has gotten very tired of her bouncy seat, so Derek and Ann Marie let us try out their "command center" for Sophia. She was completely fascinated and delighted by it! She loved the upright position, the use of her legs and all the toys. It was one of the major hits of the weekend.

This morning we went to the park which was a big hit with both boys. Sophia didn't enjoy the bright sun so much. After lunch, sadly we had to come home. We had a wonderful time and look forward to seeing these good friends again!
