Happy Adoption Day!

Yesterday was Sophia's Adoption Day, when we celebrate the day we went into court and legally became a family forever. It's a day as special to us as the day Sophia was born. We got Sophia a balloon, which she got to pick and therefore is a Dora balloon. She also got to decide what we had for dinner and asked for "pasta and brocoli and sauce." You've got to love a kid who's special meal is both easy and includes vegetables! I made ice cream sandwiches, which Sophia seemed to find quite entertaining.

We also looked at pictures of when she was born and when we went to court. We read several adoption books and told Sophia how much we love her and how glad we are to be a family. One of my favorites is Happy Adoption Day which says:

There are those who
think families happen by chance,
A mystery their whole life through,
But we had a voice and we had a choice -
We were working and waiting for you.
So it's here's to you and three
cheers to you!
Let's shout it, "Hip, hip, hip hooray!
For out of a world to tattered and torn,
You came to our house on that wonderful morn...
And all of a sudden this family was born.
