Yes, we do feed the baby!

A couple of days ago our friend Kathy commented that she hoped we were feeding Sophia since she hadn't seen any photographic evidence of it. These pictures are for her. (Bryn feeds her too, she's just more likely to be the one taking the pictures.) In other news, we took Sophia to the doctor today and she now weights 9 lbs 12 oz. No wonder our arms get tired!

Abby skeptical of Sophia.

Many people have asked how Abby our cat has taken to having a baby in the house. Basically, she's doing ok. She's skeptical of Sophia, doesn't like it when Sophia screams, but is fairly accepting. She thinks that some of Sophia's toys and her bouncy-seat look like they might make good cat-toys too. She still isn't snuggling up with Sophia but every once in a while will get close if we're with Sophia. Today we finally got a couple of those moments on film.

Visit with Laura

Today we had a very nice visit from our friend Laura who lives in Idaho. It was her first time to meet Sophia and we had a very special visit. Many thanks to Bryn's dad who loaned his car so that Laura had a way to get from Portland to Salem to visit us! Also included is a picture of Sophia in an adorable outfit given to us by Bryn's cousin Lisa. Lisa and her husband Shahram were very generous in helping get us set up for Sophia.

A Day Around the House

We didn't do much today, but here are a few pictures of us doing it. I'm also including one of Abby our cat, because she was feeling left out.

First book & pictures with Daddy

Tonight we read Sophia her first book, Moo, Baa, La la la! by Sandra Boynton. We checked it out today from the Bookmobile. It was a big hit. Of course, we had to take pictures, and each read the book once which really seemed to wear her out. She's been sleeping ever since.

Sophia Visits the Bookmobile!

Today we took Sophia to the bookmobile for the first time. Bryn had some books to pick up and turn in. It had been over a week since Bryn had been to the library and that was long enough! We got to introduce Sophia to Bryn's bookmobile coworkers Jen and Bev who have been very supportive during this entire process. Here are some pictures.

Family Introductions

We have had a lovely weekend of introducing Sophia to her family. Thursday evening she got to meet Grandpa John and Grandma Nancy. Friday evening Uncle Barry and Aunt Jess came from Eugene to visit.

Saturday all the grandparents came to visit and she got to meet Grandma Darla and Grandpa Earl for the first time. A good time was had by all and time was even snuck in for a nap for Bryn!

Yesterday we had our first adventure in the stroller. She seemed to like it. At least, Sophia fell asleep within a few feet of our front door. Falling asleep is how we determine happiness at this point.

Today Paul had to go to work for a few hours so Bryn got to stay home alone for the first time. Both Bryn and Sophia seem to have survived this experience.

All-in-all, the first week seems to be going fairly well.
